Summary: The Christian life is not just about words and concepts, but also about power. The apostle Paul says that the Gospel is the power of God, and the weapons of our military are powerful in God. The Lord Jesus Christ told the disciples not to leave Jerusalem until they received power from the Holy Spirit. We should ask the Lord to give us supernatural power to witness, live a holy life, overcome temptations, speak boldly, endure troubles, and more. This power comes from the Holy Spirit and can be cultivated through fasting, prayer, and meditation on the Word of the Lord. It is not artificial power, but benevolent power that exemplifies love, grace, compassion, and generosity. May the Lord fill us with this power today.
We have to ask the Lord to give us power. Brothers, the Christian life is not a matter of words only, of concepts but it is also a matter of power. The apostle Paul says: "I am not ashamed of the Gospel because it is the power of God" and in Another passage speaks that "the Gospel does not consist of words but consists of power." It also says that "the weapons of our military are not carnal but powerful in God for the destruction of strongholds."
The Lord Jesus Christ told the disciples not to leave Jerusalem until they received power, an endowment of power from the Holy Spirit. We children of God have to focus on the importance of power, naked power. He is talking about dunamis, that quality of spiritual energy. It is an infusion that comes directly from the Holy Spirit for the children of God, it is like when you take one of those pills that artificially gives you a sense of energy or when you have a cup of coffee that gives you that energy, that push to one not?.
So we have to simply ask the Lord to communicate that supernatural power to us. It is like sticking a battery to a power source that recharges it. When we pray we have to ask the Holy Spirit: give me that dunamis, that dynamite, that spiritual power. Power to witness, power to live a holy life, power to overcome the temptations and attacks of the devil. Power to speak boldly and with authority and with enthusiasm about my faith in Jesus Christ. Power to endure tribulations and struggles and troubles in life. It is something that comes directly from God and we have to become aware of the role that power plays in the Christian life.
Many Christians have a lot of piety, a lot of love for the Lord, they even live quite healthy and well behaved lives but they have not been alerted to the importance of cultivating spiritual power. Power that comes through fasting, prayer, meditation on the Word of the Lord, simply asking the Father directly to give us that endowment of spiritual power, that baptism of His Holy Spirit.
There is something about the Christian life that requires an orientation toward power. In the Old Testament it is said that: "it is not with a sword but with the Spirit of God." That indwelling spirit is what enables us to live powerful lives. So brothers, I encourage you to make power a goal in our lives, so that our life exemplifies that enthusiasm, that energy that only comes from the Holy Spirit.
So we must be strengthened with all power. There are different ways that the power of the Holy Spirit can come to us, right? enthusiasm, boldness, courage, energy, all these things are different manifestations that is why Paul says: "With all power according to the power of His Glory."
In other words, that power that we ask for comes directly from the Father and is in accordance with the power of God in us, it is not artificial power that comes from simply ourselves, such as generating that power by encouraging ourselves and hypnotizing ourselves in an enthusiastic attitude, but that it is something that comes directly from God and is a type of power that is according to the power of God. It is not power to oppress, it is not power to gain influence over others or exploit others, it is a benevolent power that Christ exemplified through an attitude of love, grace, compassion, generosity.
In Christ was the power but it was a power that responded to the way God behaves and it is a power that is in accordance with the power of His Glory. May the Lord fill us with that power this day. Pray with me: Father in the Name of Jesus I ask right now for power, vitality, energy, conviction, effectiveness for all the brothers who listen to us or who read these words that You have put in my heart and through them I communicate right now to That community of God Speaks Today a spiritual energy, a spiritual vigor that comes directly from Your Spirit and that is in conformity with the way in which You work, with benevolence, with love and with patience towards others.
Brethren, I bless you in the name of the Lord and I declare that abundant power of Jesus Christ in your lives. Pastor Roberto Miranda says goodbye to you, may the Lord continue to bless you.
