Do not remain in the darkness, but dwell in the light

Summary: Jesus has come to bring light to our dark world. By having faith in Him, we can escape the darkness and enter into a never-ending day. We should not let doubts or fears keep us in the shadows, but instead, trust in Jesus and enjoy the sunlight He provides. Let us look to Him for hope, joy, and heaven.

This world is dark as midnight; Jesus has come so that by faith, we may have light and no longer remain in the darkness that covers all the rest of humanity.

All that is a very broad term: it means you and me. If we trust in Jesus, we will no longer remain in the dark shadow of death, but we will enter the warm light of a day that will never end. Why don't we go out into the open right away?

A cloud may hang over us sometimes, but we will not remain in the dark if we believe in Jesus. He has come to provide us with abundant daylight. Will it come in vain? If we have faith, we have the privilege of sunlight: we must enjoy it. Jesus has come to free us from the night of natural depravity, ignorance, doubt, despair, sin and terror; and all believers will know that He does not come in vain, any more than does the sun that rises and unfailingly spreads its warmth and light.

Shake off your depression, dear brother. Do not remain in the darkness, but dwell in the light. In Jesus is your hope, your joy, your heaven. Look at Him, and only at Him, and you will rejoice as the birds delight in the sunrise, and as the angels rejoice before the throne.
