Achieving unlimited power requires constant communion with Jesus

Summary: To have unlimited power in prayer, one must remain in a living, loving, and conscious union with Jesus. This means the heart must remain in love, the mind rooted in faith, and the whole person united to Christ. Hearing Jesus speak and obeying His words is essential to effective prayer. Only those who walk with God and have constant communion with Him can handle the keys of heaven and intercede effectively for the church and world.

To remain in Jesus is to never abandon him for another love, or for another object, but rather it is to remain in a living, loving, conscious and willing union with Him. The branch is not only always close to the stem, but who is always receiving life and fertility from him. All true believers abide in Christ in one sense; but there is a higher meaning that we must know before we can achieve unlimited power on the throne. "Ask all you want is for the 'Enochs' who walk with God, for the 'Juanes' who lie on the Lord's breast, for those whose union with Christ leads them to constant communion.

The heart must remain in love, the mind must be rooted in faith, hope must be grounded in the Word, the whole man must be united to the Lord, otherwise it would be dangerous to be entrusted with the power of prayer. The carte blanche (carte blanche) can only be awarded to someone whose very life is: "I no longer live, but Christ lives in me." Oh you who break your communion, how much power you lose! If you want to be powerful in your supplications, the Lord Himself must abide in you, and you in Him.

Note well that we must hear Jesus speak, if we expect Him to hear us speak. If we don't have an ear for Christ, He won't have an ear for us. In proportion as we hear, we will be heard.

Furthermore, whatever we hear must remain, must live in us, and must remain in our character as a force and a power. We are to receive the truths that Jesus taught, the precepts that he promulgated, and the movements of His Spirit within us; otherwise, we will not have power before the mercy seat. If we received the words of our Lord, and they abide in us, what limitless field of privilege would be open to us! Our will will be fulfilled through prayer, because we have already submitted our will to the Lord's command. In this way the 'Elias' are trained to handle the keys of heaven, and to close or open the clouds. Such a man is worth a thousand ordinary Christians.

Do we humbly wish to be intercessors for the church and the world, and like Luther, to be able to receive from the Lord what we want? Then we must incline our ear to the voice of the Well-Beloved, and treasure His words, and carefully obey them. Whoever wants to pray effectively must "listen attentively."
