Summary: A sister in a church where she was required to wear a veil reached out for counseling as she did not feel it in her heart to do so. The author emphasizes the importance of focusing on what is in our hearts rather than external practices, and not causing stumbling blocks for those seeking God. God guides us in our personal relationship with Him, choosing what is useful and removing what is not. The author encourages us to not veil our hearts, as God wants them complete and naked.
Some time ago I received a request for counseling from a sister who was congregating in a church in which she was required to wear a veil. She did not feel it in her heart to do so and felt very discouraged because she was afraid of displeasing God if she did not use it.
This caught my attention and I realized how much we are still capable of giving more importance to the external aspect than to what our heart keeps.
Especially in a global community like God Speaks Today, where people from different traditions of worshiping God participate, we should consider the wise words of the Apostle Paul not to fall into arguments that are not worth it ( Titus 3: 9 , 2 Timothy 2:14 < / a>). I respect both: The woman who decides to wear a veil to show her faith, if she decides to do so by her decision, not by human imposition. I also respect the sister who decides not to wear a veil backed by her faith in Christ who has given us freedom.
God guides us as we deepen our personal relationship with Him and He takes away and puts in us what is convenient so that we can glorify Him. He chooses what is useful in our lives and polishes it until it is clean and shiny. What does not serve so that we can be valuable instruments for his work, that will be removed as the gardener prunes the useless branches of a tree so that it can continue to grow strongly and become a leafy tree that bears good fruit.
Brethren, let us not be stumbling blocks to the hungry for the word. Let us not put heavy burdens on the shoulders of the weak in faith. Let us not impede the free flow of the Spirit in a new life that begins to walk hand in hand with God.
It is up to us to pave the way, not to make it more tortuous than it already is.
Even the veil of the temple was rent the day our Lord laid down his life for us.
What is the use of having a veil on our head as a sign of respect when our heart has not been completely given to our King and Sovereign?
Let's not veil our heart, God wants it complete and naked.
